How this site is sourced.
An independent Granite Falls project built primarily from public records, contract documents and primary legal sources.
Public records first.
Local reporting on this site is based primarily on City records, executed contract documents, invoices, permit material, Council records, SCSO responses and Washington law. National developments link to court records, official law text or established reporting.
Screenshots are cropped for readability. Personal contact and financial information may be redacted; the substantive wording in the source image is not rewritten.
Renewal timeline.
Earlier versions of the site used a September 2026 non-renewal deadline after focusing on the October 17 execution date and the invoice’s Oct. 23–Oct. 22 billing period.
Further review showed that the MSA and Order Form tie the 12-month term to first installation and validation unless the Order Form states otherwise. City records show installation began Feb. 13, 2025, and later City materials identify Feb. 13 as the renewal date. After I raised the discrepancy, City Manager Jeff Balentine confirmed that the MSA Terms and Conditions are correct.
The site now uses Feb. 13, 2027 as the working renewal date and mid-January 2027 as the working non-renewal notice window. The invoice’s Oct. 23–Oct. 22 period remains documented as a separate billing-period entry.
City and SCSO records are tracked separately.
The City says Installment 6 completed its production. Several operational categories—including audit/search/access logs and outside-agency access records—remain with SCSO and are tracked separately.
Chief Dalton’s written answers are published on the Evidence page alongside the remaining requests for audit logs, configuration records and other underlying records.
DeFlock is the only outside organization this project has collaborated with.
